Travelling by car

Situated on the south-western fringe of the Rhine-Main region, Aschaffenburg is best approached via the A3 Frankfurt/Würzburg. Both the Aschaffenburg West and Aschaffenburg Ost exits of the autobahn will take you straight to the town centre via the B8/Hanauer Strasse or via the B26 and the Ostring ringroad. At the very centre of Aschaffenburg is Schlossplatz square, site of the town's most famous landmark, Johannisburg Palace. From here all other attractions can easily be reached on foot. With numerous multi-storey and underground car parks as well as a Park+Ride service, the town has over 4,500 parking spaces. And thanks to the excellent parking information system, finding a space couldn't be simpler.

Travelling by coach

It's easy to reach Aschaffenburg by coach. The map below (PDF format) gives an overview of all the coach parks in town.

Travelling by train

Aschaffenburg station is served by regional, RegionalExpress, InterCity and InterCityExpress (ICE) trains. There are regular services from Aschaffenburg to key interchanges such as Frankfurt and Hanau. The Frankfurt route provides a direct connection to the Rhine-Main region's underground and suburban networks. The ICE route to Würzburg, through the beautiful Spessart hills, takes only around 35 minutes.

Aschaffenburg train station has been rebuilt to a completely new design. A selection of cafés and shops on the concourse create an inviting atmosphere for passengers. Rail passengers travelling on to other parts of Aschaffenburg or surrounding towns need only walk next door to the regional bus station (ROB). From the train station to Schlossplatz square and Johannisburg Palace is less than a ten-minute walk, though it may take longer if you are tempted by the many shops that line the way!

Travelling by air

Air passengers fly into the Rhine-Main airport in Frankfurt. From there it only takes about 40 minutes by train or car to reach Aschaffenburg.

Parking information system & car parks

Need to park in Aschaffenburg? No problem!

Find a space with the parking information system

Aschaffenburg's dynamic parking information system tells residents and visitors where the nearest multi-storey and underground car parks are located and how many spaces they have available. This helps drivers to find their way and a parking space.

The dynamic set-up of the parking information system lets you know how many free spaces a car park has before you even get there. If a car park is full, drivers are directed to the nearest alternative.

Thanks to this modern system, we can:

  • ensure cars are spread evenly across the available parking spaces
  • significantly reduce congestion
  • prevent unnecessary queues outside full car parks
  • reduce fuel consumption
  • reduce emission levels

The car parks operated by Aschaffenburg Stadtwerke are open around the clock.
