The Jesuit Church Art Gallery is the exhibition centre for the Municipal Museums of Aschaffenburg, with the emphasis on the Classical Modern period and fixed installations from the 20th and 21st centuries.

In 1612, at the time the Castle was being built, the Prince-elector of Mainz, Johann Schweickard von Kronberg, founded a Jesuit community in Aschaffenburg. Located in close proximity to the castle, the church, started in 1619 and completed in 1621, served not just as a place of worship for the Jesuits but, shortly after its completion and until 1944, as a study church for the grammar school run by the order.
